What exactly does our orginization do?

Therapeutic Programs Inc. has served emotionally and behaviorally challenged foster children in Alabama for over a decade. It is the oldest and largest provider of therapeutic foster care in the state of Alabama. TPI also operates three Family Options Programs in North Alabama. There are regional offices in Mobile, Montgomery, Phenix City, Clanton, Birmingham, Cullman, Gadsden, Huntsville, and Florence. The main office is located in Montgomery. | Four thousand Alabama children have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. All of these children have developed special emotional or behavioral needs. Therapeutic foster parents are trained to care for these exceptional children. �

The Parents: | We are looking for emotionally healthy, warm, dedicated individuals who welcome the challenge of caring for children with difficult behaviors. Parents typically care for only one therapeutic child. Requirements: 25 years of age Private room for child Single of married for at least one year Stable home Dependable transportation Children: Most of our children are school-aged and are in the custody of The Department of Human Resources. Duration of Stay: The time that children stay in Therapeutic Foster Care varies from six months to four years. Parents meet with staff in a joint effort to discuss length of stay prior to a child being placed in the home. Training: Prospective foster parents will recieve 40 hours of training and will be licensed free of charge as professional treatment parents. Compensation: Foster parents recieve a combined difficulty-of-care payment of approximately $1,150 per month tax-free. At least $350 per month of that amount must be spent on the child. Support Staff: Professional staff members trained in Crisis Resolution, are available 24 hours a day. Monthly meetings provide continuing education for the foster parents and therapeutic activities for the children.
